Edmund N. Bacon Urban Design Awards

Founded in 2006 in memory of Philadelphia’s iconic 20th century city planner, Edmund N. Bacon [1910-2005], this annual program honors both professionals and students whose work epitomize excellence in urban design. Each year, a professional who has made significant contributions to the field of urban planning is selected to receive our Edmund N. Bacon Award. In addition, the winners of an international student urban design competition, envisioning a better Philadelphia, are honored with our Edmund N. Bacon Student Awards.

Louis I. Kahn Award + Talk

The annual Louis I. Kahn Award + Talk has honored the most influential and accomplished architects from around the world. Awardees present a talk in Philadelphia, open to the public, in which they discuss their innovative designs, their inspirations, and their motivations. The Louis I. Kahn Award + Talk raises funds for the Architecture + Design Education program.

Urban Wood Design Competition

Furniture design competition sourcing local wood from the Fairmount Park Organic Recycling Center. The "urban wood" will be used in furniture and fixtures that will enhance the use and enjoyment of the MLK Recreation Center's pool. More details coming soon.
