On June 28th, Smith and Diction designers and founders, Mike and Chara Smith partnered with ADE and CraftNow to teach two graphic design workshops at the Center for Architecture and Design. Students learned about logos, prints, and why graphic design choices are made. Ages 5-13 spent the afternoon constructing their designs with Legos and later inking them to create their own prints on paper. Liza Niles, Program Manager for ADE, was impressed by Mike and Chara’s effortless connection with the students. She stated, “Mike and Chara at Smith & Diction are a gift to education in design for children. The synergy between their lifestyle and who/what they design is so natural and dynamic.” We are so grateful for design volunteers like Mike and Chara that make design education accessible and exciting for children in the Philadelphia area.
