Now Hiring: Program Coordinator, Design Education

The Center for Architecture and Design is seeking a Program Coordinator for our Architecture and Design Education program.  The Center for Architecture and Design is a charitable foundation that focuses on engaging, educating, and exciting the public about the built environment and design and its impact on all of us. The Center has prioritized K-12 design education over the past three years, engaging thousands of Philadelphia school children through its in-class, out-of-class, and Saturday workshops. The Center believes and has set an organizational goal that all students in Philadelphia have access to design education and this position is critical in striving to accomplish that goal.

This full-time salaried position that reports to the Director of Design Education of the Center for Architecture and Design. A successful candidate for this position must possess experience and talents in the following areas:

  • At least 2-4 years experience in nonprofit program coordination and/or communications, ideally in educational and/or youth-focused setting.
  • A passion for and/or knowledge of design, architecture, and/or the built environment.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Graphic design skills utilizing Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Culturally competent and authentic communication style for both internal communications with Board and staff members, but also externally.
  • Meticulous organizational skills to coordinate program internally and externally.
  • Experience in event planning and logistics preferred.

Core Responsibilities Include:

Support CFAD K-12 Programs

  • Data entry from teacher and student surveys.
  • Organize and label photos appropriate, with appropriate photo permissions and credits.
  • Draft Annual Report for Architecture and Design Education, in coordination with Director of Design Education and Communications Director
  • Manage calendar invitations for ADE Committee meetings
  • Keep track of ADE committee tasks and milestones in MS Teams
  • Organize program supplies and support Program Manager in getting supplies ready for each classroom launch.
  • Organize Annual exhibition and reception details.

Support Higher Education Programs

JADE-PHL (Justice Alliance in Design Education)

  • Manage JADE-PHL contact list in ToucanTech.
  • Manage JADE-PHL website and resource links.
  • Support JADE-PHL event planning details.
  • Draft Annual Report of JADE-PHL Activities
  • Attend JADE-PHL Meetings

Edmund N. Bacon Urban Design Student Competition

  • Attend all Bacon Committee Meetings
  • Draft Bacon Competition Brief, in conjunction with Director of Design Education

Communications

  • Attend weekly Communications Meetings
  • Draft monthly news articles about ADE programs.
  • Create all powerpoints and other materials for ADE program.
  • Update website and ADE committee pages.
